Edge Impulse
A free website for training small neural networks on sensor data and running them on microcontrollers like the ESP32, with no internet needed afterwards.

What it is for
Edge Impulse is a platform for TinyML: machine learning that runs on tiny devices. You collect data from a sensor, label it, and train a neural network in your browser, without writing any machine learning code yourself.
When the model is ready, Edge Impulse exports it as an Arduino library. Your ESP32 then recognises gestures, sounds or vibrations by itself, in a fraction of a second, without sending anything to the cloud.
The free Developer plan is enough for learning and personal projects. Creating an account needs an adult for younger makers.
Tips
- Record lots of varied examples: different speeds, sizes and people make the model better.
- Always include an "idle" or "nothing" class, so the model has an answer when nothing happens.
- Test the model on data it hasn't seen in Model testing before you deploy it.
