Arduino Cloud

Arduino's own IoT platform: describe your project as a Thing, and build dashboards and phone controls for your ESP32 without writing the connection code.

Arduino Cloud

What it is for

Arduino Cloud connects boards like the ESP32 to the internet. You create a Thing, add a few variables such as a temperature or a switch, and Arduino Cloud writes the code that keeps them in sync between your board and its servers.

Then you build a dashboard by dragging in widgets: switches, sliders, gauges, charts and a colour wheel. The same dashboard works in the browser and in the free Arduino IoT Remote app, so you can control your project from anywhere.

The free plan lets you use two Things with up to five variables each, which is enough for every lesson in our Arduino Cloud path. Check the plans page on arduino.cc for the current limits.

Tips

  • Download the PDF with your device's secret key when you add the ESP32: it is shown only once.
  • Variable names in your sketch must match the ones in the Thing exactly.
  • Keep ArduinoCloud.update() in loop() and avoid long delay() calls, so the connection stays alive.
